I just ran across a tool called "Flubaroo", which is a basically a program that piggybacks with Google spreadsheets and forms.  If you make a test or quiz on either of those programs, flubaroo corrects it for you if you take the test yourself and enter the correct answers.  Check it out at www.flubaroo.com.  I was thinking this would be a great way to reduce your paperwork, allow you to give more standardized testing type of questions/situations, and even differentiate quizzes you are giving to students.  Now I have to figure out how to make tests and quizzes using the google tools....

  1. This tool will be really useful in my classes as it adds to what I was looking for for grading online quizzes. I use the on-line quizzes as pre-assessments and study guides to check student knowledge. This tool will allow me to give them feedback faster and have everything in one spreadsheet.

  2. This is a great tool to recognize trends in data. e.g. identifying particular questions/concepts/types of questions that a majority of students may be struggling with and therefore need to be readdressed.

Additionally, as a special educator, I have many students who need continuous and frequent practice of learned skills and concepts in order to retain and apply learning. That can be cumbersome when generating and correcting assignments, but flubaroo could allow me to do this practice and then immediately revisit and instruct areas of need for my students.

  4. Thanks MaryEllen,

I love the idea that I can automate some formative assessments and allow for more time to spend on class activities and preparation rather than the drudgery of correcting paper after paper.
